Tender Search Australia

Tender Search Australia is the large tender preparation and notification subscription service in Australia. Tender Search Australia deals with 100’s of tenders a day and sends out thousands of emails nightly.

Their original system was poorly designed and implemented. The original development company took the approach of using cutting edge technologies without any understanding of the many implementation issues. As a result the system performed very poorly with large accounts sometimes taking up to 20 minutes to load on the screen. Here were numerous inaccuracies in the system which the original development company were unable to correct. Their nightly email run would normally take anywhere from 1.5 hour to 4 hours to complete.

The GeckoWare Solution involved re-designing the user front end. In doing this we were able to create a streamlined application that fixed inaccuracies in the original system. Account loading was reduced to seconds in all accounts. Their email process now takes a mere 4 minutes.

These changes allow Tender Search Australia to process more tenders in a shorter amount of time, saving staff costs for data entry. In the past they were not able to run more than one email run due to the long delays, now that can schedule email runs as many time during the day as they would like, giving them the leading edge in the industry.

Government Funded Training Program (GFTP)

Government Funded Training Program (GFTP) was a program run by the education department to manage the funding of traineeships and apprenticeships in Victoria. It allocated around 100 million dollars annually via a tender process. Management of funds was by lodgements of student hours. Originally the tendering was a manual paper process taken around 20 people and up to 4 months to complete. Lodgement of student hours would take 5 – 6 people working 4 days a week to enter and process payments.

We developed on of the first tendering, allocation and management web sites in Australia. Using multiple web servers and multiple a application servers to handle the load and vast number of transactions. At the end of the project the tendering process was reduced down to a few days and the management of payment to a 1 person a few hours a week. At the peak of use this web site was processing over a 100 thousand transactions a day.
